Choosing the Best Ceramic Coating

When people ask us what the best ceramic coating is, the answer is not just a brand name or the biggest number printed on a bottle.

The best ceramic coating is the one that fits the vehicle, the owner, and the installer doing the work.

At Nebraska Auto Detail, we are proud to use Undrdog products. They offer a selection of coatings, but when it comes to ceramic coatings installed by us, we only use their best product: Undrdog HCC Hybrid Ceramic Coating.

We have proudly used HCC because of its gloss, easier maintenance, and the trust we have in the brand. With proper maintenance, the coating on your vehicle can last up to five years.

What Is a Ceramic Coating?

A ceramic coating is professionally installed on exterior paint after the vehicle has been properly prepared. It gives the paint more gloss and depth, helps with UV protection, and makes life easier to maintain.

That does not mean a coating makes your vehicle maintenance-free. A coating is not an iron plate. You still need to wash it, remove bird droppings and road film, and take care of your investment.

Why We Chose Undrdog HCC

There are a lot of ceramic coatings out there. Some are good. Some have big claims. When we decided which coating to install for our customers, we wanted the best product possible—not something that sounded good only in a sales pitch.

Undrdog HCC gives us the gloss we want to see after a coating is installed. It makes maintenance easier for the owner, and it comes from a brand we trust.

But even the best coating is only as good as the work done before and during installation.

The Installer Matters

The best ceramic coating is not just the bottle—it is the installer.

Whether your vehicle is fresh off the lot or it is a 1964 Impala, we follow the same careful process:

  • Hand wash
  • Iron decontamination
  • Clay bar treatment
  • Machine polish the paint
  • Shut down the shop
  • Install the coating with two installers
  • Allow the coating to cure overnight

Once we start the coating process, that is the only vehicle we are working on. We do not want all-purpose cleaner floating around the shop, other work creating distractions, or people coming in and out while we are installing a coating.

That attention matters. Paint preparation, controlled conditions, and installer experience are a major part of what separates a professional ceramic coating from a quick add-on.

What We Consider Before Recommending a Ceramic Coating

Not every vehicle needs a ceramic coating. Before we recommend the best coating we use at Nebraska Auto Detail, we want to know how the vehicle is actually going to be used—not just what it looks like the day you bring it in.

We ask about the vehicle’s age and mileage, whether it is going to be driven every day, where it is parked, and how long you plan to keep your investment. Someone buying a newer vehicle to keep for the next five or ten years may get a lot of value from a coating. Someone planning to sell it soon may be better off with our Works Package.

We also want to discuss maintenance after the coating has been installed. We recommend bringing coated vehicles back to us for a maintenance wash every 6,000 to 7,000 miles. If it is a daily driver that will get little to no maintenance—or if you plan on regularly taking it through a brush car wash—I strongly suggest having us polish and reseal the vehicle yearly, or every two years, instead.

Our premium paint sealant can still give your vehicle added gloss and protection while being a better fit for your goals and budget.

What a Ceramic Coating Will Not Do

A ceramic coating is not an iron plate. It will not protect against rock chips, door dings, or physical damage.

When I find a coating that does that, I will be a billionaire and just coat tanks.

The right ceramic coating is not about selling the biggest package. It is about matching the right product, vehicle, owner, and maintenance plan so the investment actually makes sense.
